The Best Soups at the Soup Station

Soup has been around for a long time – over 20,000 years. It was in 20,000 B.C., in Xianrendong Cave in the Jiangxi Province of China, where we have the oldest recording of people making and eating soup. Imagine a meal being so good that people have done nothing but build off the idea for thousands of years. That’s how much people love soup. Now, there are so many different kinds of soup that we have a whole menu dedicated to them.

Soup isn’t popular solely because of how good it tastes or how many different ways it can be made. It can also be incredibly nutritious. You can mix multiple ingredients, such as delicious meats, healthy vegetables, and flavorful herbs with mouth-watering broth, making a dish to fit your tastes. No wonder it’s been so popular for so many people throughout the years! Our soup station available for catering is filled with several different recipes. There’s bound to be more than one that you want to try for yourself.

The Soups of Our Soup Station

When we cater, we offer several different menus for you to choose from, including our soup station catering menu. Typically, we ask that you pick three of our many soup choices, but if you need something different, contact our Catering Coordinator, Allison, to discuss details. You can email her at afriedman@gricosrestaurant.com or call 570-690-3339.

Crab Bisque

A bisque is a type of soup that uses seafood as the base ingredient. In our recipe, we use crab along with creamy cheese that goes great with most appetizers and meals. It pairs well with vegetables specifically, so if you’re considering another catering menu with a lot of vegetables, this is a soup you should choose.

Carrot and Dill

This vegetable soup is perfect if you pick a dinner menu that’s more plentiful with meat than veggies. Filled with carrots and fresh dill, this recipe also mixes in garlic, onion, chick stock, milk, and fresh chives. It’s a soup that is truly the complete package of nutritional value. Also doesn’t hurt that it tastes incredible too.

Minestrone

Minestrone is a popular recipe from Italy. It’s considered a hearty soup because of its tomato broth that comes mixed with seasonal vegetables and pasta or rice. It’s a tastier and more nutritional replacement for classic tomato soup while having its own explosive taste and more.

Roasted Red Pepper Bisque

Our recipe comes perfectly seasoned so you can taste the heat with a little bit of spice as well. Our roasted red pepper bisque uses a vegetable broth and has a mix of vegetables, such as onion, carrots, celery stalks, garlic cloves, crushed tomatoes, and roasted bell peppers that give it its name.

Corn Chowder

Chowder is a type of soup that is made with milk or cream and thickened with starches like crackers, biscuits, and/or roux. Our corn chowder uses corn as the base with added vegetables to give it a lot more flavor and nutritional value.

Chicken Noodle

Everyone knows chicken noodle soup. It’s possibly the most well-known and popular soup out there. It has tasty, mouth-watering chicken broth with pasta noodles and sometimes vegetables, depending on the recipe. Our recipe adds some seasoning to make what already tastes good taste even better.

Potato and Leek

Don’t mistake this similar-looking vegetable for asparagus. Leeks are another vegetable with leafy green tops that serve as half of the core recipe. We chop up the leeks and potatoes before mixing them in a chicken broth similar to the one in chicken noodle soup.
